Abstract

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna konotatif dalam dialog Serial Dark Bagian 1 dengan menggunakan teori Bettina Birk yang mengklasifikasikan makna konotatif berdasarkan ketergantungan konteks dan nilai rasa. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada kompleksitas bahasa dalam Dark yang tidak hanya menyampaikan makna denotatif, tetapi juga mengandung makna konotatif yang erat kaitannya dengan alur cerita, khususnya tema perjalanan waktu dan paradoks temporal. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data penelitian berupa dialog dalam Serial Dark Bagian 1 yang mengandung makna konotatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari total 41 data makna konotatif yang ditemukan, sebanyak 35 data termasuk makna konotatif yang bergantung pada konteks dan 6 data termasuk makna konotatif yang tidak bergantung pada konteks. Selain itu, seluruh data menunjukkan nilai rasa negatif, tanpa ditemukan nilai rasa positif. Dominasi makna konotatif yang bergantung pada konteks menunjukkan bahwa pemaknaan dalam serial ini sangat dipengaruhi oleh struktur naratif dan hubungan antarperistiwa. Sementara itu, dominasi nilai rasa negatif mencerminkan karakteristik serial Dark yang mengusung tema misteri, kematian, dan determinisme waktu. Dengan demikian, makna konotatif dalam serial Dark berfungsi tidak hanya sebagai unsur linguistik, tetapi juga sebagai sarana untuk membangun suasana naratif yang kompleks, gelap, dan penuh ketegangan.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to analyze the connotative meanings in the dialogues of the series Dark (Season 1) by applying Bettina Birk’s theory, which classifies connotative meanings based on their context dependency and emotional value. The background of this research lies in the linguistic complexity of the series, where meanings are not only conveyed denotatively but are also closely related to narrative elements such as time travel and temporal paradoxes. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data consist of dialogues from Dark (Season 1) that contain connotative meanings. The results show that a total of 41 instances of connotative meaning were identified. Of these, 35 instances are categorized as context-dependent connotations, while 6 instances are classified as context-independent connotations. Furthermore, all identified data exhibit a negative emotional value, with no positive connotations found. The dominance of context-dependent connotations indicates that meaning construction in the series is strongly influenced by narrative structures and temporal relationships. Meanwhile, the prevalence of negative emotional values reflects the thematic characteristics of the series, which revolve around mystery, death, and deterministic concepts of time. Thus, connotative meanings in Dark function not only as linguistic elements but also as a crucial mechanism in constructing a complex, dark, and tension-filled narrative atmosphere.

Diese Untersuchung zielt darauf ab, die konnotative Bedeutung in den Dialogen der Serie Dark (Staffel 1) anhand der Theorie von Bettina Birk zu analysieren, die konnotative Bedeutungen nach ihrer Kontextabhängigkeit sowie nach ihrem emotionalen Wert klassifiziert. Der Hintergrund dieser Untersuchung liegt in der sprachlichen Komplexität der Serie, in der Bedeutungen nicht nur denotativ vermittelt werden, sondern eng mit narrativen Elementen wie Zeitreisen und temporalen Paradoxien verknüpft sind. Die vorliegende Arbeit verwendet eine qualitative Methode mit einem deskriptiven Ansatz. Die Daten bestehen aus Dialogen der Serie Dark (Staffel 1), die konnotative Bedeutungen enthalten. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass insgesamt 41 Daten mit konnotativer Bedeutung identifiziert wurden. Davon gehören 35 Daten zur kontextabhängigen Konnotation (context-dependent connotation), während 6 Daten zur kontextunabhängigen Konnotation (context-independent connotation) zählen. Darüber hinaus weisen alle identifizierten Daten einen negativen emotionalen Wert auf, während keine positiven Konnotationen festgestellt wurden. Die Dominanz kontextabhängiger Konnotationen deutet darauf hin, dass die Bedeutungsbildung in der Serie stark von narrativen Strukturen und zeitlichen Zusammenhängen beeinflusst wird. Gleichzeitig spiegelt die Dominanz negativer emotionaler Werte die thematische Ausrichtung der Serie wider, die durch Motive wie Geheimnis, Tod und deterministische Zeitstrukturen geprägt ist. Somit fungieren konnotative Bedeutungen in der Serie Dark nicht nur als sprachliches Mittel, sondern auch als zentrales Element zur Konstruktion einer komplexen, düsteren und spannungsgeladenen Erzählatmosphäre.
