This study aims to determine the differences and effectiveness of using Andrea Thioville’s “Essen und Trinken” learning media on the speaking skills of 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Gedangan. The background of this study is that many students still experience difficulties in speaking skills due to limited vocabulary, a lack of self-confidence, and suboptimal learning media. The method used was a quasi-experimental study employing a Nonequivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects in this study were students in Class XI-10 as the control group and Class XI-11 as the experimental group, each consisting of 36 students. The experimental class used videos by Andrea Thionville, while the control class used Wordwall. Data were obtained from the pretest and posttest results and analyzed using a t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the two classes, and the video learning media by Andrea Thionville was found to be quite effective in improving students’ German speaking skills. Therefore, the video learning media by Andrea Thionville is quite effective for improving students’ German speaking skills.
