Abstract

This research on the development of a board game based on joyful learning to train German speaking skills of grade X at SMAN 5 Surabaya was motivated by the need for German language learning materials, particularly for speaking skills. The development model used in this study is the ADDIE model by Robert Maribe Branch. This study consists of five development stages: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and classroom observation questionnaires. The research subjects included subject matter experts, media experts, practitioner experts, observers, and 34 10th-grade students at SMAN 5 Surabaya. The feasibility test results showed a 95% approval rate from material expert, 85.4% from media expert, and 85% from practitioner expert. The practicality test results showed a 95.8% approval rate from student responses and 80% from observer. Based on these data analysis results, the board game-based joyful learning medium is deemed suitable for training the German speaking skills of 10th-grade students.
