Development of Digital Comic Learning Materials To Improve Eleventh-Grade High School Students' Reading Comprehension Of German Dialogue Texts

This study developed a Pixton-based digital comic learning medium to improve the German dialogue reading comprehension skills of 11th-grade high school students on the theme of "Hobbies", aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum at the A2 level. The issue originated from observations at State High School 1 Driyorejo which revealed low student performance due to a lack of vocabulary mastery, limited reading strategies, and the use of conventional learning media that lacked variety. The research objectives include the media development process, feasibility testing through expert validation, and practicality procedure followed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The aspects measured in reading comprehension skills included context, content details, diaogue flow, vocabulary choice, sentence structure, spelling, and communicative meaning. The research method employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data. Research data were obtained through expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and classroom observations, which were then analyzed using the Likert scale and the Guttman Scale percentage technique. The results indicates that the developed learning media is highly suitable for implementation as evidenced by a validation score of 98% from subject matter experts and 92% from media experts. Additionally, the effectiveness of the media's use was categorized as practical, with student response score of 77%, and a learning activity implementation rate of 80%. Based on these results, it is recommended that further development be conducted by adding variations in dialogues and a variety of practice questions to optimize the learning process.
