Analysis of "Learn German" Level A1 Instructional Videos on YouTube for Improving Dialogue Writing Skills of Grade XI High School Students

Abstract

This This study analyzes the use of YouTube learning videos from “Learn German” to improve the dialogue writing skills of 11th-grade high school students, using five learning videos on the topic Essen und Trinken. To support this research, there are two main objectives: (1) to analyze the content of German learning videos at the A1 level on YouTube in improving students’ dialogue writing skills, and (2) to describe the results of the analysis regarding the suitability and feasibility of the “Learn German” YouTube video materials for teaching dialogue writing skills in grade XI. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis. Based on the analysis of the videos, the feasibility percentages according to the criteria for selecting teaching materials are 83% for video 1, 81.6% for video 2, 86% for video 3, 75% for video 4, and 68.3% for video 5. Therefore, it can be concluded that the “Learn German” videos are appropriate to be used as learning materials for teaching German dialogue writing skills to 11th-grade high school students on the topic Essen und Trinken.
