Abstract

Abstract; Addition and subtraction are the basic things to understand mathematics. Mental retarded children get difficulties in operating the addition and subtraction. It can be solved by interesting media. It is used to make them study and understand addition and subtraction counting process easily. Anake and ladders game increases student’s cognitive successfully. Therefore. The researcher expects to solve the mental retarded children’s problem of addition and subtraction amounting process at second grade of Gedangan special need elementary school Sidoarjo by using modified snake and ladders game. This research is a quantitative research approach. It is a pre experiment research by using one group pre tes post tes design. The subjects of the research are 6 children. Post tes is given in the first meeting. The treatment is given eight times. Post test is given in one meeting. From the data obtained, the value of Zh is 2,04 is greater than the critical value of 5% is 1,96 so Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected and it can be concluded that there is “an effect of modified snake and ladders game for the low mental retarded children’s addition and subtraction counting skill at Gedangan special need elementary school Sidoarjo”.
