Authorship & Contributorship

Jurnal Teknik Elektro (JTE) expects that all persons listed as authors have made a genuine and substantial intellectual contribution to the work and accept public responsibility for its content. The journal follows the authorship principles recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), adapted to engineering research.

  1. Authorship Criteria

An individual qualifies as an author only if he or she meets all of the following criteria:

  1. made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, simulation, prototyping, or interpretation of data;
  2. drafted the manuscript or revised it critically for important intellectual content;
  3. approved the final version of the manuscript to be published; and
  4. agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, including its accuracy and integrity.

Acquisition of funding, provision of laboratory facilities, general supervision of a research group, or language editing alone does not justify authorship. Such contributions should be recognized in the Acknowledgment section.

  1. Contributor Roles (CRediT)

Manuscripts with more than one author must include an Author Contributions statement before the References, using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) terms: Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Validation, Formal Analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data Curation, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review & Editing, Visualization, Supervision, Project Administration, and Funding Acquisition.

Example: "A.B.: Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – Original Draft. C.D.: Software, Validation, Formal Analysis. E.F.: Supervision, Writing – Review & Editing. All authors have read and approved the final manuscript."

  1. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author acts on behalf of all co-authors in all communication with the Editorial Office. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have seen and approved the submitted and revised versions, that all authors are correctly listed with accurate names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, and email addresses in the OJS submission metadata, and that all required declarations (author contributions, conflict of interest, funding, data availability, and AI use) are complete.

  1. Order of Authors

The order of authors is a joint decision of the co-authors and must be settled before submission. The journal does not adjudicate the order of authorship.

  1. Changes to Authorship

Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after submission must be requested by the corresponding author before acceptance. The request must state the reason for the change and be accompanied by written confirmation from all authors, including the author being added or removed. Changes to authorship after acceptance or publication will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and may require a published correction.

  1. Inappropriate Authorship

Gift authorship (listing individuals who did not contribute), ghost authorship (omitting individuals who made substantial contributions), and the sale or purchase of authorship positions are forms of research misconduct. AI tools cannot be listed as authors (see the AI Policy). Authorship disputes arising during or after the editorial process will be handled in accordance with COPE guidance and, where needed, referred to the authors' institutions.
