Pengaruh Budaya Pop Dalam Seni Pertunjukkan Ludruk di Surabaya Tahun 1975-1995

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology today has made people live in the modern era. The process of disseminating communication and information quickly makes the existence of information technology absolute. Ludruk is considered as an appreciation of a society's culture that holds various high moral and philosophical values. However, in modern times, cultural values are not considered a primary element in improving the standard of life of people in a nation. This happens because of changing perspectives and patterns of people who tend to be consumptive in nature. Globalization in the process of its existence has the ability and even the influence to shift the social system, culture and even the identity of a nation. The existence of this shift can be seen how the lifestyle or lifestyle of the community. In line with developments in the field of technology, information and communication, the traditional arts of ludruk and their inheritance are increasingly squeezed. The entry of foreign cultures brought by global products is one of the factors behind the decline in the existence of ludruk art in Surabaya. The study of the influence of pop culture in ludruk art is considered important because there is no research that specifically and comprehensively focuses on the influence of pop culture in traditional arts, especially ludruk. This study will also show the level of public interest in traditional arts so that it can be used as a reference for future reforms. At the same time, it is an afterthought for all people to always maintain and preserve the traditional art of ludruk as the national cultural identity. This research will discuss about the development and existence of ludruk in Surabaya in the midst of globalization and also the growth of global products. From the background of the problem above, the formulation of the problem can be taken as follows: 1) How was the development of ludruk performing arts in Surabaya from 1975 to 1995 2) How was the reciprocal influence between popular culture (Pop Culture) and ludruk performing arts in 1975 - 1995. While the research method used is the historical research method which consists of four stages, namely: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. And, in this study, the main source used is in the form of news in newspapers obtained in the Medayu Agung Surabaya library. Then secondary sources in the form of books, journals or research that intersect with the main study in this study. From this study, it was found that several factors became the background of the decline in public interest in the traditional ludruk art. 1) the existence of new entertainments that are more in line with the current conditions of society 2) shifting values in today's society 3) the artists respond slowly to the changes and turmoil of the times 4) what priority scale is important and what is not important has shifted as determined by industry.
