About the Journal

Avatara: e-Journal Pendidikan Sejarah focuses on publishing high-quality field research, literature reviews, conceptual ideas, and theoretical reviews in the fields of History Education and Historical Studies. This journal aims to serve as a platform for academic discourse for lecturers, researchers, teachers, students, and educational practitioners to disseminate recent findings that contribute to the development of historical science and innovations in educational practices. AVATARA E-Journal is published six times a year, namely January, March, May, July, September, November.

The scope of articles accepted and published in this journal includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:

1. History Education

  • Learning Models and Strategies: Innovations in interactive and critical history learning approaches, methods, and models in both secondary schools and higher education.

  • Learning Media and Technology: The development, utilization, and effectiveness of learning media, learning resources (such as museums and historical sites), and digital technology in the history classroom.

  • Curriculum and Learning Evaluation: Analysis and development of the history curriculum, as well as the design of assessment instruments and the evaluation of learning outcomes.

  • Educator Problematics: Studies concerning the challenges, pedagogy, and professionalism of history teachers.

2. Historical Studies

  • Local History: The dynamics of events, historical figures, society, and culture at the local or regional level.

  • National History: In-depth reviews of politics, economy, society, and culture within the trajectory of Indonesian history (from the prehistoric, kingdom, and colonial eras to the contemporary period).

  • Thematic History: Including Social History, Economic History, Cultural History, History of Education, Maritime History, and Intellectual History.

  • Global/World History: International historical events that have significance and correlation with the development of human civilization.

3. Historiography and Historical Methodology

  • Studies on the development of historical writing (historiography), source criticism, as well as debates and the application of methodology in historical research.

4. Cultural Studies and Character Education

  • Studies regarding the preservation of cultural heritage, oral traditions, collective memory, and the integration of local wisdom and historical values in efforts to build national character.
