Abstract

The purpose of this study is to first, analyze the background of the establishment of bank investors in 1918 and the second to analyze the development of banks in 1918-1925. Based on the formulation of the problem, the purpose of this study is to explain the background of the establishment of the Modjokertosche Afdeelings Bank and to analyze the development of the Mojokertosche Afdeelings Bank from 1918 to 1925. The writing of this scientific paper uses historical research methods, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Heuristics, namely looking for the source of the data you are looking for. Primary sources taken from the authors for this study are sought in the East Java Archives Service in the Surabaya area. Critics do read back or filter from the sources that have been obtained. The method interpretation combines several sources to find the common thread of history. For this, the archives obtained are linked to secondary or tertiary sources. Historiography, which is the ultimate process in formulating or designing or designing available resources to be made into a complete unity with the context to be studied or discussed. The result of this research is that the Mojokerto area can be considered as an area to be reckoned with. For the colonial era itself, Mojokerto can be said to be a scattered industrial area. Like the sugar factory and the factory and coffee fields. These commodities also served the coffers of wealth for the colonialists if they were used as commodities for international trade. The presence of a bank in Mojokerto itself is expected to be able to stabilize, maintain, and reverse the circulation of money circulating in the area. Even though the turmoil fluctuated when this bankwas established, the bank was expected to be able to help the colonial party to increase the amount of other income in terms of taxes, forced cultivation, or factories that were established in the Dutch East Indies region.
