DESAKRALISASI PETIK LAUT PANTAI PUGER DI DESA PUGER KULON KABUPATEN JEMBER TAHUN 1999-2013
Abstract
Petik Laut is a culture that is owned by coastal communities in Puger Kulon. This is because coastal communities have their own way of looking at the sea which has given them a fortune so that a ritual emerges. The ritual carried out is a form of gratitude that is manifested as giving offerings to Nyi Roro Kidul who has been trusted by the people of Puger Kulon as the ruler of the south coast. This ritual is a hope to get a good harvest in the future. Desacralization of Picking Laut in Puger Kulon Village in the implementation of rituals that are carried out every year. To compensate for these factors, the people of Puger Kulon village use various innovations which can combine the traditional sea picking ceremony and renewal of the procession in the sea picking ceremony itself to attract foreign tourists and become the only tradition in the South Jember region that is fully guarded. sustainability by the government. Therefore, this research is directed to discuss (1) What are the forms ofdesacralization of Petik Laut in Puger Kulon village in 1999-2013? ; (2) What is the impact of the desacralization of Petik Laut in Puger Kulon Village in religion, economy and socio-culture. The method used in this study is Historical Research with the following stages: (1) Heuristics, namely searching for data through archives owned by Puger Kulon village in the form of documents and photographs, in- depth interviews with village heads, committees, kyai and the people of Puger Kulon Village ( 2) criticism, namely to test credibility through sources that have been obtained, (3) Interpretation, collecting facts obtained from sources so as to produce logical facts (4) Historiography, namely historical writing. The results of this study indicate that the sacredness that is starting to disappear in the sea picking ritual in Puger as well as the opportunity to make traditional tourism known by the general public to continue to be held regularly every year and continue to preserve it through making a sea picking tradition tour at Pancer Beach Puger. The results of this study explain that Petik Laut in Puger Kulon Village has undergone changes in its process. The changes that occurred were the replacement of traditional prayers with Islamic prayers, besides that the offerings they used were very different from the time of their ancestors, this eliminates the impression of sacredness in the sea picking ceremony in Puger Kulon Village. However, with this desacralization, it can have a good impact on the lives of the Puger Kulon people and the culture that is owned is better known by other people in Puger Kulon and causes social interaction in the community to be well established.
