Abstract

This study aims to explain the effect of the character based illustrated story media "Garudeya Amertha Bhakti" on students' visual literacy skills. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The technique of collecting pictorial story media data includes a media quality validation questionnaire and material quality as well as observation. Data on visual literacy skills were obtained using student worksheets that were filled out by each student after they had interpreted the illustrated story media given. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling where the class that came out at the time of the draw was class X IIS 2 with a total of 32 students. The results showed that there was a significant influence between the character based illustrated story media "Garudeya Amertha Bhakti" on students' visual literacy skills of 88.1% with the regression equation Y = -5.669 + 1.024 X.
