PERPUSTAKAAN DAN KEARSIPAN KABUPATEN SIDOARJO TAHUN 2001 – 2008

Abstract

Libraries are known as institutionsfor the preservation of library materials. The functions carried out by the library in its development include the functions of education, preservation, information and recreation. Sidoarjo Regency Library and Archives is one of the libraries that has a fairly good development in carrying out its functions, this development started from the relocation of the library which was previously located in Joang 45 Sidoarjo Building to Jl. Attorney General Suprapto No. 5. After being moved, the library struggled to build a strategy in carrying out its role in the midst of the condition offacilities and infrastructure that were not maximized. Therefore, this research has a research focus, namelyWhy was the Library and Archives of Sidoarjo Regency moved to a new building in 2001-2008? and How is the Development of Library and Archives Collection in Sidoarjo Regency after being moved to a new building in 2001-2008?. This study was structured using historical research methods consisting of four stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. In writing this article, we use sources from books, namel y books related to libraries, ranging from library management procedures, guidelines for the preservation of library materials, and other books. Then from interviews with staff in the field oflibrarianship and sourced from data archives in libraries from 2001 to 2008. So this research resulted in a scient ific article entitled "Library and Archives of Sidoarjo Regency 2001-2008" with real data. The results of this study stated that the progress or development of the library was caused by two factors. Internal factors, namely the work ethic of Human Resources, Library and Archive managers do not stop trying to continue to develop and innovate to build libraries that are more appropriate and able to attract the attention of the community. The performance of the managers is the main thing that is able to make the library successful in carrying out its functions even though at the beginning it experienced a shortage of personnel. The second external factor is the provision of a budget from the government which is able to make the library grow better.
