Abstract

Project Based Learning is a learning model that focuses on the importance of student processes or activities in project design. Project-Based Learning makes history learning more meaningful by giving students the freedom to explore and construct the knowledge they find. The Project Based Learning model is considered capable of increasing students' understanding of historical material. This study aims to determine the effect and magnitude of the influence of the Project Based Learning model on the level of students' understanding of learning history in class X IPS SMA Negeri 20 Surabaya. The method employed is Pre-experimental quantitative research using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design and Purposive Sampling is a research and sampling technique. The implementation of a learning sheet with Project Based Learning, a student response questionnaire, a pretest, and posttest were all used in this study. the data analysis technique using a basic linear regression test, Y = 16,256 + 0,531X. The product moment was used to test the correlation between variables X to Y, and the result was rcount (0.635) > (0.329) rtable, indicating that they are significantly associated. The students' understanding of exam scores improved on average from 58.7 on the pretest to 82.2 on the posttest. A t-test of 0.4791 > 2.028 (t-table) was used in this investigation, indicating that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. With a value of 0.403 in the R-square table Model Summary, the magnitude of the influence can be seen. As a result of the data analysis, Project Based Learning has a beneficial influence on students' understanding of history learning in class X IPS at SMA Negeri 20 Surabaya by 40.3%, while the remaining 59.7% is due to other factors not investigated in this study.
