Abstract

This research explains the development of teak wood transportation train transportation to
become aLoco Tourtourist train in the Cepu teak forest in 1960-2000. The method used in this research
is the historical method. Cepu is one of the sub-districts in Blora Regency, Central Java Province. Cepu
has teak forests which are claimed to have the best quality because of the soil conditions in the Cepu
forest area which are composed of limestone soil. Inside the Cepu teak forestthere is a railway line that
was built during the colonial period, this line is used totransport forest products in the form of teak wood
to the wood storage area. The use of rail transportation as transportation of teak wood in the teak forest
of Cepubecame the main choice from the Dutch East Indies colonial period untilthe 1990s.In the 1990s,
rail transportation began to shift to truck transportation due to severalfactors, such as the opening of
routes into the forest and the more efficient use of truck transportation. Furthermore, seeing the tourism
potential of the Cepu teak forest and by utilizing the locomotive train that was used to transport teak
wood, Perhutani Cepu has the initiative to re-manage it by turning it into a tourist attraction calledLoco
Tour. In the 2000s the Loco Tour tourist attraction began tolack visitors because of frequent conflicts in
the Cepu teak forest.
