Abstract

This study discusses the effect of the scientific approach in learning history on critical thinking skills of students at SMAN 20 Surabaya. This research uses quantitative research with an experimental method approach with One-Shot Case Study. Data collection techniques in this study included sheets of the implementation of scientific approach learning, questionnaires on the application of scientific approaches, and student critical thinking skills test sheets. In this research, the researcher wants to answer the problem formulation, is there any influence of scientific approach on students' critical thinking skill? This study used cluster sampling with a proportionate random sampling in order to obtain a total sample of 42 students from 2 class XI IPS SMAN 20 Surabaya. Analysis of the data using the One Sample t - test, the calculation results obtained are 9917 > 2.020 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 which shows the relationship between the two variables. The acquisition of a value of 9917 indicates a positive response in the test. It can be concluded that Ha can be accepted and H0 is rejected and it can be said that the scientific approach has an effect on students' critical thinking skills in learning history.
