Abstract

Pasamuwan Mlaten is a church that has been around since the kolonial era, located in Wonomlati village, Krembung district, di Sidoarjo regency. This Pasamuwan cannot be separated from the disbandment of the Sidokare Pasamuwan and its people spread to places that have land for them to manage, including some who live and settle in the Guyangan hamlet, Wonomlati Village, so they formed a Javanese Christian community there. The author formulates the problem as follows: What is the history of Pasamuwan Kristen Jawi Mlaten? How was the development of the Jawi Mlaten Christian Pasamuwan until it was inaugurated as the Jawi Wetan Christian Church (GKJW) for the Mlaten congregation.? The methods used in this study include heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results of this study indicate the history of Pasamuwan Mlaten from the Guyangan community, as well as the existence of Bible teachers who teach the community and schools. In 1882 the Guyangan community built a church building located in Mlaten, so since then they have called their community Pasamuwan Mlaten according to the location of the new church building. The development of the Mlaten pasamuwan is increasing every year, until in 1931 the Mlaten pasamuwan joined the Jawi Wetan Christian Church and became the Jawi Wetan Christian Church of the Mlaten congregation.
