Abstract

History lessons can develop students' understanding of time, place, and historical events. The history learning process tends to be monotonous and learning activities only go in one direction. Where learning is still dominated by the teacher (teacher center learning) is one of the problems in history learning activities which results in students becoming passive and students' critical thinking skills low. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the Inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking skills and how big the effect is. This study used a preexperimental design approach in the form of a One-Shot Case Study with a sample of 34 students from class XI MIPA 6 at SMAN 17 Surabaya. The data collection technique uses the observation method of learning implementation, students' responses to inquiry learning models, giving written tests in the form of description questions to measure students' critical thinking abilities. Data processing uses the normality test and one sample t-test. The results of the study are shown as follows: (1) the implementation of the inquiry learning model is 95% with very good criteria. (2) The response of students to the inquiry learning model in the learning process shows 84% with a very good category. (3) The test results used to measure students' critical thinking skills obtained an average percentage of 86% by achieving AKM 80 mastery. one sample t-test obtained a significance value (2-tailed) 0.000 <0.005. The results of the two-party hypothesis test by looking at the magnitude of the Tcount value, namely by comparing the Tcount value of 8.592 > Ttable 2.032. These results indicate that there is influence between the two variables so that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. So in conclusion, that there is a positive influence of the inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking skills. Keywords : Inquiry Based Learning, Critical Thinking, History Education
