Abstract

Pasar Jongkok Wonokromo is a flea market that operates at night and is located south of Wonokromo Station. Pasar Jongkok is often referred to as a market for thieves by the local community by looking at the dark history of the Wonokromo Market environment which has many criminal records. The majority of traders at Jongkok Wonokromo Market are migrants from the Madurese ethnic group with a strong accent. Buyers who visit are attracted because of the low prices of goods as well as some trading patterns that are easy to practice in this market such as negotiations, barter, trade-in, and buying from visitors.
The Wonokromo Jongkok Market began operating when the Wonokromo traditional market was partially renovated at the end of 2003, and has become popular since negotiations with local parties to ask for a selling permit. The crowd of sellers invites many visitors to participate as enthusiasts in this market, thus inviting cons, namely road users feel disturbed by the presence of the Jongkok Wonokromo Market due to illegal parking which causes traffic jams. The Wonokromo Jongkok market is starting to fade due to the implementation of the PSBB as a result of the co-19 pandemic and the rise of e-commerce. After the Covid-19 pandemic subsided, Pasar Jongkok experienced a setback because the unstable economy caused people's purchasing power to decline.
Keywords : Wonokromo Jongkok Market, street vendor.
