PERKEMBANGAN PONDOK PESANTREN SYIROTHOL MUSTAQIM (LDII) MANUKAN TANDES SURABAYA TAHUN 1998-2021

Abstract

The total population of Indonesia who adheres to Islam is around 87 percent of the total. This gave rise to
non-formal Islamic educational institutions called Pondok Pesantren. Islamic boarding schools are institutions that are
expected to be able to foster morals and religious understanding of the younger generation so that they become young
people who worship in an orderly manner and have good character. Syirothol Mustaqim Islamic Boarding School is one of
the many boarding schools in the city of Surabaya. The location of the boarding school in the middle of the city and the
boarding school with the LDII wing is of interest to the author to find out the development of the Islamic boarding school.
Related to this, the researcher raises the following problem formulation: 1. What is the background for the
establishment of the Syirothol Mustaqim Islamic Boarding School (LDII) in Manukan Tandes Surabaya? 2. How is the
development of the Syirothol Mustaqim Islamic Boarding School from 1998 to 2021? 3. How are the efforts made by the
Syirothol Mustaqim Islamic Boarding School to be able to maintain its existence? The method used in this study is the
method of literature search and interviews. There are activities carried out in historical research, namely: 1. Stages of
searching for and finding sources (Heuristics), 2. Conducting historical criticism, 3. The process of compiling facts
chronologically (Interpretation), 4. The final stage is presenting all the facts ( historiography).
