Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effect of the point counter point learning method on students' critical thinking skills in history learning in class 12 IPA SMAN 1 Driyorejo. This research is based on the background of the importance of education, which is rooted in state legal foundations. So we have to get it by studying anywhere, both at school and outside school. Researchers chose Vygotsky's constructivist cognitive learning theory for school education because the aim of this theory is to solve a problem. So that students can use it for their survival. Apart from that, critical thinking skills are needed to be able to solve a problem. This type of research is experimental research with a quasi-experimental research design using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This study required two class samples, namely experimental class samples and control class samples. For the experimental class, the researcher set 12 IPA 2 while for the control class used 12 IPA 3. There were two instruments used by researchers, namely student response questionnaires to measure independent variables and thinking questions. critical to measure the dependent variable. The data analysis technique used a two-tailed hypothesis test, namely independent sample t-test and simple linear regression test. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, the sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05 and the results of recount of (17.470) > (1,667) ttable, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Then for the simple linear regression test, a score of 52.8% is obtained from the influence of the independent variable (x) through a simple linear regression test. Meanwhile the other 47.2% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study. From the data analysis, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be said that there is an effect of the point counter point method on critical thinking skills and influence by 52.8%.
