PENERAPAN PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DALAM PEMBELAJARAN SEJARAH NASIONAL PADA SISWA SMA WACHID HASYIM 5 SURABAYA
Abstract
Character education is an important component in the course of education in Indonesia. The application of
character education is useful for building a child's character into someone who has strong and ideal character who
is able to shape him into a child who is useful for the nation and stat e. History, which essentially discusses the past,
studying human culture and civilization from time to time certainly contains many character values that can be learned
and instilled in students and then applied in their daily lives as social creatures. The aim of this research is to
determine teacher readiness as well as the process of implementing character education in history subjects, to find
out the obstacles faced by teachers and students' responses regarding the implementation of character education in
history learning at SMA Wachid Hasyim 5 Surabaya. This research uses a case study method by taking one learning
basic competencies to observe. The techniques and instruments used in this research include classroom observations,
interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis tests were carried out by means of data
reduction, triangulation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research are that 11 of the 18 character values
emerged during the history learning process, including the character values of religion, discipline, tolerance, hard
work, creativity, democracy, curiosity, national spirit, respect for achievement, friendship and communicativeness
and responsibility. The obstacle felt by teachers is the difficulty of inserting character values clearly so that students
are often biased in grasping the meaning conveyed. Meanwhile, the response given by students was quite good
regarding the implementation of character values in history learning.
