PERKEMBANGAN PABRIK GULA TRANGKIL PATI TAHUN 1900-1917
Abstract
The Trangkil Sugar Factory which was located in Pati in 1900-1917 is very interesting to research and study
intensively. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Trangkil Sugar Factory played an important role in making the Dutch
East Indies a producer of quality sugar with high selling value. So that rapid development is increasingly occurring in the
sugar industry in Java with the highest rank position among the major crop commodities on the island managed by
Europeans. The Dutch East Indies holds first rank as the world's largest sugar producer with its granulated sugar industry
in Java. There are two problems that will be studied in this thesis, namely 1) How did PG Trangkil production develop in
1900-1917? 2) What was the impact of PG Trangkil's production on the economy of the people of Pati 1900-1917? This
thesis was written to determine the development of PG Trangkil production in 1900-1917 and to determine the impact of
PG Trangkil production on the economy of the Pati community in 1900-1917. This research utilizes historical research
methods which consist of four stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. The heuristic stage
is the stage in searching for research focus sources obtained from Delpher as the main source, books that have relevance
as secondary sources, as well as theses, journals, and the internet as tertiary sources that can become research supporting
data. Research findings found that the Trangkil Sugar Factory in Pati in 1900-1917 had developed rapidly, starting from
irrigation construction to modernization of infrastructure. The sugar industry in Pati also has an impact on economic
conditions, namely by absorbing a large number of workers, thereby driving the pace of the economy in Pati Regency.
