Plagiarism Screening

ISCO is committed to publishing original work and maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. To ensure this, all submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous plagiarism screening process.

 

Screening Tool

ISCO uses Turnitin as the primary plagiarism detection tool. Every submitted manuscript is screened before being sent to peer review.

 

Similarity Threshold

The maximum acceptable similarity index for manuscripts submitted to ISCO is 25%. Manuscripts that exceed this threshold will be returned to the author for revision and must be resubmitted with a reduced similarity index.

 

Screening Procedure

1. All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism upon initial submission using Turnitin.
2. The plagiarism report is reviewed by the Editor to identify any cases of substantial textual overlap, improper paraphrasing, or unattributed use of other authors' work.
3. If the similarity index exceeds 20%, the manuscript is returned to the author with a request for revision.
4. Revised manuscripts are re-screened to ensure compliance with the plagiarism policy.
5. Manuscripts with confirmed cases of intentional plagiarism will be immediately rejected, and the author's institution may be notified.

 

Types of Plagiarism

ISCO considers the following as forms of plagiarism:

• Direct plagiarism: Copying another author's work word-for-word without proper attribution.
• Self-plagiarism: Reusing significant portions of one's own previously published work without proper citation.
• Mosaic plagiarism: Piecing together ideas or phrases from multiple sources without proper attribution.
• Paraphrasing plagiarism: Rewording another author's ideas too closely without proper citation.
