Abstract
Reading interest was a strong willing and happy feeling to do reading activity based on their willingness. Reading interest was a skill obtained after someone was born so that reading interest could be grown, guided, and developed. Based on data of the statistic center institution in 2006, it indicated that Indonesia children reading was only about 23,5% of total. That fact showed the low of reading interest of Indonesia children. One of them was hearing impairment children, therefore, it required a media to enhance reading interest of hearing impaiment children one of them was using pop-up book media.
The purpose of this research was to prove whether there was influence of using pop-up book media toward reading interest to hearing impairment children in the third class of SLB/B Shanti Kosala Mas Trip Nganjuk or not. The time used in this research was 11 times meeting with 9 times intervention. The design used was one group pre test post test with 8 children as the subject. The data analysis was statistic non parametric using sign test.
From the research result which was then analyzed by sign test formula, it was obtained Z counted 2,48 while Z table in significant 5% for one side test Zh=1,64, while two sides Zh=1,96 so that Ho was refused (1,64<2,48>1,96). That mean, it could be concluded that there was significant influence of using pop-up book media toward reading interest of hearing impairment children in the third class of SLB/B Shanti Kosala Mas Trip Nganjuk.
