Abstract

ABSTRACT
Deaf children cognitive skill is affected by various factors. One of them is environment. Parents at
home is the first and the main educator for the children. Therefore, parenting will affect the children’s cognitive
skill in the future. This research aims to analyze the effect of the parenting for the children’s cognitive skill at
Dharma Wanita kindergarten for special needs childrens B Sidoarjo.
Considering the research types which has been chosen, this research uses non-experimental research.
This research uses quantitative research. It is correlational research by using expost facto design. Spearmen
Rank is used to analyze the data.
The data is collected through questionnaire and test. The data which has been collected has been
analyzed. It shows that the result of Rs is 0.192. After conducting statistic test, tH = 0.51. It is smaller than the
critical score of t distribution, t = 5%. The n-2 = + t0.025 df 7 is 2.365. It means that Ha is rejected dan Ho is
accepted. Therefore, there is not significant correlation between parenting and deaf children’s cognitive skill at
Dharma Wanita kindergarten for special needs children B Sidoarjo.
