Abstract

ABSTRACT
Mental retardation child had the same necessity with the normal. However, not all necessities could be reached. Therefore, they had special necessity as the following: (1) physic necessity including eating, drinking, maintaining either health or environment and physic, (2) spirit necessity including esteem need i.e. attention, praise, greeting, comforting familiarity and communication need i.e. willing, idea, question, problem, feeling expression, (3) social necessity (group) i.e. they required admitting as family member, admitting in front of friends, getting position in the group and doing something without anyone’s help.
Based on the observation result on 8-10th November, 2014 and the interview result of the fourth class teacher, it was obtained 6 mild mentally retarded children in SLB Putra Idhata Madiun who had disturbance in counting mathematics ability to adding material and they still used fingers to count and often got mistake in writing the end result.The purpose of this research was to observe the influence of Touch Math technique modification toward counting ability to mild mental retardation child in SLB Putra Idhata Madiun.
The data analysis result indicated that Zh value obtained was 2,05 greater than critic value 5%, 1,96. It meant there was significant influence of Touch Math technique modification toward counting ability to mild mentally retardation children in SLB Putra Idhata Madiun.
