Abstract

ABSTRACT
In SLB YKK Pacitan there were 6 mid mental retardation child with the problem of less taking care themselves. One of the problems in self care was brushing teeth. The brushing teeth ability of the children required developing because it was part of the children’s autonomous building in daily life. The method used in developing brushing teeth ability was picture and picture. Picture and picture method was a learning method which functioned the pictures as the main media in learning about the steps of brushing teeth orderly, neatly, and easy to understand.
The purpose of this research was to prove the influence of picture and picture method toward brushing teeth ability to mid mental retardation child in SLB YKK Pacitan.This research used quantitative approach pre-experimental form with one group pretest and posttest design. The data applied used test and documentation. The test was pretest and posttest in the form of oral and action used to get the data of brushing teeth of mid mental retardation child before and after giving treatment while the documentation was as the support data or proof that the research was really done. The formula used to analyze the data was statistic non parametric with Wilcoxon Match Pairs test.
In pretest the data obtained was 79,63 and in posttest the data obtained was 85,30. Being analyzed with Wicoxon Match Pairs test it was obtained counting number Zh = 2,20 compared to critic value 5% Zt = +1,96 which meant that Ho was refused and Ha was accepted. In this way, it could be concluded that there was influence of picture and picture method toward brushing teeth ability to mid mental retardation child in SLB YKK Pacitan.
