Abstract
One of the disturbances of autism children was socializing ability, autism children could not feel social
contact, they tended to withdraw and avoid contact with anyone else so that it had impact to the abilities of
language, academic, interaction, and behavior when the autism children were in the inclusive school which
emphasized the children to interact with either teachers or other regular students. Based on the problem this
research described the social adjustment pattern of autism children to the inclusive school.
The research done to six autism children had purpose to know the social adjustment pattern of autism
children to the inclusive school in SDN 7 Sidokumpul Gresik and SDN 1 Tlogopatut Gresik. The research
was focused to the social adjustment pattern of autism children. The social adjustment pattern in this
research oriented to Robert K. Merton’s concept which consisted of five social adjustment patterns i.e.
conformity adjustment, innovation adjustment, ritualism adjustment, retreatment adjustment, and rebellion
adjustment.
This research used descriptive quantitative approach with statistic descriptive arrangement. The data
collection method used questionnaire, observation, and interview. The analysis data technique used
percentage method.
The research result indicated that most of autism children did conformity adjustment pattern, 53,9%
and then innovation adjustment pattern, 36,3%, ritualism adjustment pattern, 7,8%, retreatment adjustment
pattern 2%, and rebellion adjustment pattern 0%.
