Tunarugu children are children who have disorders of the hearing, experience obstacles in language development of hearing factor less than the maximum that the development of the organs of articulation participate hampered, and ultimately results in the form of language skills of deaf children experience a shortage, especially in the mastery of vocabulary. Formulation of the problem in this research is how to increase mastery of the vocabulary of deaf children in class D2 SLB Karya Asih Surabaya with Concept Mapping Strategy Implementation The aim of this study was that children with hearing impairment can improve the mastery of vocabulary easily despite limited abilities.
This study uses a classroom action research to design research model of Ari Kunto (Arikunto, 2010: 137). Methods of data collection in this study is the observation and documentation. The data analysis was conducted by the application of concept mapping strategy Analysis of the data used in this research is the analysis of reflection based on a cycles. From the findings of the study showed an increased mastery of vocabulary. Scores increasing mastery of the vocabulary of the results of the analysis indicated during the pre-action result is 37.5%, after the first cycle measures the result of 47.5%, the second cycle result is 78%. This shows the average student learning outcomes specified above KKM is 70. Conclusions expressed are the mastery of vocabulary can be improved through the application of concept mapping strategies for students in class D2 SLB Karya Asih Surabaya.
