Abstract

ABSTRACT
Hearing impairment children had disturbance in speech skill especially in beginning reading ability. Hearing impairment children had difficulty in understanding the word meaning and pronouncing the writing being read well because of the low of speech ability they had. Therefore, this research had purpose to know the influence of inductive model of picturing words toward beginning reading ability to the first class of hearing impairment children in SDLB-B Karya Mulia II Surabaya.
This research used quantitative approach and pre experiment kind using “One Group, pretest – posttest design” arrangement. The data collection method used test and the technique of data analysis used statistic non parametric with sign test. The research result indicated that there was score enhancement to the test of beginning reading skill on pre test was 68,05 to be 79,99 on post test while the research result of the score of beginning reading ability on pre test was 49,06 to be 93,05 on post test. Based on the data analysis it indicated that ZH = 2,05 > Z table = 1,96 to 5% significant level (two sides test). So it could be concluded that there was significant influence of inductive model of picturing words toward beginning reading ability to the first class of hearing impairment children in SDLB-B Karya Mulia II Surabaya.
