Abstract

ABSTRACT
Based on the observation in YPAB - A Tegalsari Surabaya the parents of the first class blind children had disturbance in reading-writing the basic of Braille letters so to enhance the ability of reading-writing Braille letters was done a training of reading-writing the basic of Braille letters.
This research had purpose to analyze whether there was influence of training of reading-writing the basic of Braille letters for the blind children’s parents in YPAB Tegalsari Surabaya or not. The approach of this research used was quantitative approach. The kind of research was pre experiment. The design used was: The one group pre test and post test. The method used to collect the data was a test method. For the data analysis this research used analysis technique of statistic non-parametric.
The result of research after giving pre test was that the average value of the blind children’s parents was 35, and then they were given intervention 6 times with time allocation ± 60 minutes for each meeting. Then being given post test indicated that there was change, the value of the blind children’s parents became better. The average value was 73. From the value it was then analyzed by sign test formula (ZH) with Z table 5% one side test 1,64. The Z value obtained in counting was ZH = 3,01 so that it could be concluded that “there was significant influence to the training of reading-writing the basic of Braille letters for the bind children’s parents”, with ZH value = 3,01 > Z table 5% 1,64.
