Metode Analisis Glass Terhadap Kemampuan Membaca Permulaan Anak Tunagrahita Ringan
The mild mentally retardation children had disorder in development aspect one of them was cognitive aspect. Based on the result of field observation the mild mentally retardation children had very low reading ability in the school so that it required enhancement of beginning reading ability to mild mentally retardation children.
The glass analysis method was one of the learning methods which could be used to teach recognizing a group of letters while looking words wholly. The glass analysis method was a teaching method through solving the code of words group into words.
This research had purpose to enhance beginning reading ability through glass analysis method to mild mentally retardation children. This research used single subject research (SSR) method with basic design A-B. To collect the data required observation and duration record of reading reinforced by documentation data of beginning reading to mild mentally retardation children. The data collected was analyzed by visual analysis in the form of analysis inside condition and analysis among condition.
The analysis result indicated that the average duration to baseline phase (A) was 51 and the average duration to intervention phase was 38,61. By the result reached could be known that there was enhancement of reading ability to mild mentally retardation children 61 – 38,61 = 22,39%. The direction tendency indicated positive change. The percentage of overlap data was 0%, based on the data explained it could be concluded that applying glass analysis method could enhance reading ability of mild mentally retardation children.
