Abstract

ABSTRACT
Remedial learning has characteristic to rectify the learning system so that the optimum learning objectives can be reached as if hoped in order to be able to improve autistic children’s basic writing ability. Having basic writing ability is very needed by autistic children to make their writing correct and readable so that the teacher can evaluate their task. Besides, having the ability can also support them in their daily life.
The objectives of this research is proving the effect of remedial learning to autistic children’s basic writing ability in Sekolah Pengembangan Kompetensi Berkebutuhan khusus Yudhistira Sidoarjo.
In this research, Single Subject Research was used as the research design. The research method was Quantitative Research and the data were collected by using field notes to reach particular criteria determined.
As the result, autistic children’s writing ability was improved through the implementation of remedial learning. It was shown by the improvement of subject mean level. From baseline-1 (A) to intervention of (B) which is 2. Meanwhile, when baseline-2 (A) was used, mean level increased to 8.
In general, it can be said that the implementation of remedial learning gives positive effect for autistic children’s basic writing ability. It was proved by some aspects such as the children can copy words in square-book without passing the border line, write in scratch book by giving attention to the space between the letters, and write tidily and readably.
