Peningkatan Hasil Belajar Matematika Penjumlahan Melalui Bermain Lempar Biji Karambol Modifikasi Pada Anak Tunagrahita Ringan
Children with mild mental retardation at SLB-C Putra Harapan Bojonegoro underwent some difficulties in accomplishing the tasks of addition so that their average mathematics score on addition is low and under the minimum mastery criterion. Therefore, a classroom-action research was conducted to improve the score of the students with mild mental retardation at SLB-C Putra Harapan Bojonegoro regarding addition material.
This study aims at describing the improvement of mathematics score in regard to addition by using modified game of tossing carom pieces on 4th grade students with mental retardation at SLB-C Putra Harapan Bojonegoro. The design of this classroom action research is the model proposed by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. Data collection methods employed in this study were documentation, observation, and test.
According to the research result, it is seen that there is an improvement in the Mathematics scores of 4th grade students with mental retardation at SLB-C Putra Harapan Bojonegoro regarding addition material by means of modified game of tossing carom pieces shown by the research result in the pre-action, that is 46, 25%. After the action at cycle I, the result is 63, 75% and after cycle II is conducted, the result is 83, 75%. This shows that their average score is over the minimum mastery criterion determined by the school. Hence, it can be concluded that the mathematic scores in regard to addition can be improved by means of modified game of tossing carom pieces implemented to 4th grade students with mild mental retardation at SLB-C Putra Harapan Bojonegoro.
