Abstract

Abstract

Sensomotoric capability is the ability of the senses to move and coordinate with the body. Cerebral palsy is a condition in which the brain damage results in the impediment of the movement coordination (sensomotoric) of the senses. If the sensomotoric obstacles are not handled, children with cerebral palsy disorder will experience obstacles related to motoric skills. Motion has a very important function in everyday life, therefore children with cerebral palsy will experience complex disorder, not only in movement but also in hearing, vision, speech, and the intelligence. Sensomotoric disorders in cerebral palsy’schildren, sensomotoric ability needs to be continuously stimulated to optimize it.

The purpose of this study is to assess the sensomotoric ability of cerebral palsy children before and after the intervention using dance-based modeling techniques of modified ganggiring. This study is a pre-experimental study. The duration of the study is 10 meetings with 8 interventions. The design of study is one-group pretest-posttest design with 6 children as participants. Data collection method is testing and documentation. Data analysis is non-parametric statistical analysis using the sign test.

The data of study was analyzedby using the formula sign test, which found that Z (Zh) of 2.05 while Z table with the 5% significance for testing the two tails (Zt)is 1.96. Thus Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted (1.96 <2.05> 1.96). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the dance-based modeling techniques affects the sensomotoric ability of cerebral palsy children in SLDB D YPAC Surabaya.
