Abstract

Abstract : The deaf student in SDLB Muhammadiyah Licin Banyuwangi had a problem related to their vocabulary acquisition they have very limited vocabulary in their minds. It lead to their communication problem and their language development as well. An extra strategy be done in the deaf student classroom activity in order to enrich their vocabulary acquisition. One of the strategy is doing the arranging words game.
This research is aimed to analyze how the arranging word game can influence towards the vocabulary acquisition improvement of the deaf student in 4th grade of SDLB Muhammadiyah Licin Banyuwangi.
Arranging words game is an activity in which the deaf student arrange some jumbled syllables to make a word. These game also completed with some pictures about the object found inside the classroom. The words of some objects in the classroom should be 1 until 3 syllables. The research design used “pretest and posttest one group design”. The collecting data method use observation method and the test. While the data analysis use sign test.
The result of the research shows ZH = 2,05 and Z table = 1,96 in critical score α = 5% (two side test). It is proved that Ho is rejected an Ha is accepted. It can conclude that the arranging word game has a significant influence to improve the vocabulary acquisition of the deaf student in 4th grade of SDLB Muhammadiyah Licin Banyuwangi.
