PENGARUH METODE SQ3R DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA INTENSIF SISWA TUNANETRA KELAS V DI SLB-A YPAB TEGALSARI SURABAYA

Abstract

Abstract Reading is a physical and mental activity to discover the meaning of the text. SQ3R method used to improve the ability of intensive reading, but it is not yet known if the influence is applied for blind students who have ability less to read intensive and understand the contents of reading the book. The purpose of this study is to prove whether the method SQ3R influential in improving the ability of intensive reading and to improve learning activities as well as the comprehension the contents of reading the book for visually impaired students the fifth grade in SLB-A YPAB Tegalsari Surabaya. Characteristics of the subjects in this study were visually impaired students the fourth grade in SLB-A YPAB Tegalsari Surabaya. This research uses type a pre-experimental research design with research design pretest-posttest design. Subjects numbered 7 people who given a pre test and post test. Post test was given after the subjects were given a treatment SQ3R method performed for 8 sessions. Based on result the research and analysis of data obtained ZH from the value of pre test and post test was 2,27. Then tested with a nonparametric technique the sign test is to the critical value α = 5%. So the conclusion of this research is the method SQ3R influential in improving the ability intensive reading of blind students class V in SLB-A YPAB Tegalsari Surabaya. Therefore, the outstanding education practitioners preferably teaches reading skills to apply the method in accordance with the conditions of child development and give stimulating read that was packed procedurally.
