Abstract

Abstract: Reading comprehension is the skill for mastering the text. Matering the text is in the from of understanding the context of the text. If this skill gets the problem, it will disturb the skill to master the learning materials. It will also disturb the disabled children’s learning achievement. Disabled children are the children who get problem in their physics, especially their soft motor skill.It disturbs their coordination, communication, adaptation, mobilization, individual development, and apeaking development. It causes children get problem in the communication process either passive or active communication. It also will disturb children’s formal education.
The research prolem is whether SQ3R can improve disabled children’s reading comprehension at Bina Bangsa Inclusiv School Taman Sidoarjo. The research subjects are disabled children at Bina Bangsa Inclusive School Taman Sidoarjo who get problem in their communication because of their neuromotor system problem. It makes the Indonesian Language study result is under the Minimum Achievment Criteria. SQ3R method is needed to improve disabled children’s reading comprehension. This research is a classroom action research by using MC Taggart Model ( Arikunto et all, 2008: 74 ).
The data collecting methods used are observation and documentation. The data analysis is conducted to describe the changing after the subjects are given SQ3R in improving their reading comprehension. The data analyses used is reflective analysis based on cycles. The result shows that there is an improvemen of the reading comprehension. The score of the reading comprehension from the classroom action research based on the cycles is cycle II > I. The average improvement of reading comprehension is 50% and it is 24% in the first cycle.
