Mental retardation child is a child who has below average ability. mild mental retardation children class III SDLB Fajar Harapan Surabaya have difficulty in recognizing the concept of liquid, so that the average science learning outcomes in the introduction of the concept of objects around the child so low under the KKM.Direct instruction can improve the ability of the liquid to recognize the concept of class III children mild mental retardation SDLB Fajar Harapan Surabaya expectations.This research is a classroom action research (CAR) using a pattern cycle of planning, action, observation and reflection. Analysis of the data using analysis of reflection, based on cycles per cycle. Data analysis was done in stages, first by selecting, second and third presented data concluded. The results stated in the first cycle 1 meeting with an average of 35.4% increase on the 45.6% 2 meeting. In the second cycle of learning outcomes and activities of children with an average of 65% in the first meeting and the second meeting rose at 72.6%.
