Considering the importance of soft fine motor skill in every human’s daily activities, especially for
the low mental reterded children who always get difficulties in their soft fine motor skill, the
development of the soft fine motor skill must ge improved. It cannot be separated from the teacher.
The success of low mental raterded children’s soft fine motor skill depends on the teacher.
Based on the obsevation with the room teacher at SLB Putra Mandiri Tarik Sidoarjo, the
researcher finds the low students’ interest in learning to develop their soft fine motor skill,
especially in writing, making a line, flipping, holding, rotating, and folding. This ideal is given to
improve children’s skill in every subject related to soft fine motor skill school activities though
chaining learning by using origami. Chaining learning is a method used to help the children
improve their soft fine motor skill easily. Therefore, three will not be a difficult and boring
training for the low mental reterded children.
This research aims to find out the effect of chaining learning through origami for the low
mental retarded children’s soft fine motor skill at SLB Putra Mandiri Tarik Sidoarjo. This research
is pre experiment research by using one gruop pre test design. That is an experiment conducted
without having controlled or compared group. The sampel is not random sampling. This is because
there is a difference and limitation between the number of the subject research in every low mental
retarded children.
The average score in the pre test for 6 subjects is less than 6. It becomes 63,88 after the
researcher applied the chaining learning through origami from the post test. It shows that there is
an affect of chaining learning through origami for the low mental retarded children’s soft fine
motor skill at third grade of SLB Putra Mandiri Tarik Sidoarjo.
