Mild mentally retardation was a mentally retardation child who had an IQ between 50-70 they could still join the academic lesson but the non academic ability was greater. The intelligent development of mild mentally retardation children tended to have  disturbance so that they did not reach optimum development step. It caused the mild mentally retardation children got difficulty in cognitive, social, language, personality, and adjustment development. The mild mentally retardation children required giving skill training to increase vocational ability. Based on the observation result it showed that the students of SMALB/C AKW Kumara II Surabaya in 2012-2013 required training of making unique creation of shoelace to increase vocational ability. Vocational ability was an ability that was dealt by a certain job in the society.

The purpose of this research was to analyze the influence of unique creation of shoelace toward vocational ability to mild mentally retardation students before and after giving treatment. This research used pre experiment with the one pre test- post test design’’. The data collection technique applied test method, documentation, and observation. The subject used was mild mentally retardation students, 6 students of class XI in SMALB/C AKW Kumara II Surabaya in 2012-2013. The data analysis of this research used statistic on parametric with sign test.

The training program of shoelace unique creation through making brooch was positive activity so that it could increase vocational ability of mild mentally retardation students. It was proved by the indication of average value enhancement of post test result i.e. 37 became 56 while based on the data analysis of pre test and post test result Z^H with n= 6, and X= 5,5, critic value 5%,  = 1,22 and  = 3, the result obtained with two sides test Z^H = 2,05 and compared with Z table 5% = 1,96 was Z^H (2,05)  Z table 5% (1,96) which meant that Ho was refused and Ha was accepted
