Abstract
Deaf students get difficulties in their language skill. They expressive language, in the form of writing skill, is different from normal students’. Usually, the sentence made by deaf students is very simple and unstructured sentences. Therefore, the meaning of the sentence cannot be understood by other people. This research aims to make the deaf student be able to write narrative test to optimize their writing skill in the Indonesia Language Subject. The subjects of this research are deaf students at fourth grade of Special needs Primary School B Dharma Wanita Sidoarjo. This research uses development design. The instrument uses in this research are: supplement tools of pop up book media, lesson plan, answer sheet, observation sheet, and questionnaire.
Based on the result of the evaluation for the pop up book in the evaluation one to one, the observation is taken from 90% students, 100% students’ questionnaire, 100% materials expert questionnaire, and 69,2% media expert questionnaire. The result of the research shows that pop up book media is very appropriate and can be used well in the learning process of narrative writing for the deaf students at fourth grade.
