Abstract
Deaf child is one of the children with special needs. It means that a condition where they lost their listening skill. It causes the children cannot accept the stimuli, especially through their hearing sense and their verbal understanding. It makes them only have limited vocabularies. Based on this problem, the appropriate media is needed to motivate their spirit to study. Besides that the given materials will be more various and make the students study result can be improved. Word crush, as one of the audio visual media, is very apropriate to improve deaf children's vocabularies because this media is a visual media wich can be used while playing. It makes the word crush does influence the study result of deaf children in their vocabularies at first grade of Primary Shool for Children with Special Needs B Nganjuk.
The research is conducted for pre experiment. This is quantitative research by using the one group pre test-posttest design. The data collecting technique used is test. Non parametic statistic is uses to anlyze the data. It is assisted by the sign test and significant level of 5% (Saleh, 1996:5)
Based on the result of the research, Zh is bigger than Z table. That is 2.27>1.96. Therefore, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means that there is an influence of word crush for the deaf children's vocabularies development at the first grade of Shanti Kosala Mastrip rimary School for Children with Special Needs B Nganjuk. The deaf children's vocabularies can be improved trough word crush
