Abstract

Screen printing using the direct-to-film method is a screen printing technique that is easy to teach to deaf students. Screen printing using the direct-to-film method is beneficial for developing potential, fostering creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit among deaf students. This study aimed to examine the effect of the direct-to-film method on the screen printing skills of deaf students. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research design and a one-group pretest-posttest research design. The subjects in this study were six deaf students at the SMPLB level. Data collection techniques used were testing, documentation, and observation. Data analysis techniques used non-parametric statistics with the Wilcoxon matched-pair test. The results of the study showed that the results of the students' skills on the posttest could be known at a significance level of 0.05 and obtained an Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.028 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that the direct-to-film method has an effect on the screen printing skills of deaf students at SMPLB. The direct-to-film method has implications, namely facilitating deaf students to improve fine motor skills, stimulate creativity, increase focus and concentration, and prepare students for the world of work.
