ABSTRACT

There are three parts in matematics which need to be learned by the student. One of the matematics learning material is solving the matematical problem in the form of story. The difficulties understand the problem in the questions in the form of story and find the appropriate way for the question. The blind student need various learning media, methods, and model by optimizing all of the blind students. To solve this problem, the alternative solution is tried to find. That by using the problem solving learning model. This research carried out with the aim of analyzing the ability to solve the questions in the form of story by using problem solving learning model in children with visual impairments at fifth grade of SDLB-A YPAB Tegalsari Surabaya.

The research used is  pra-eksperimental research. A group is chosen and not compared but it is chosen taken in the trial did not compare or taken randomly. It is given the pre tests, treatment and post test with the design “one group pre-test post test”. Research conducted as long as 12 meetings with 8 times the intervention, 60 minutes each meeting.

the data which has been collected is analizing by using sign test (ZH) two tail, the result of pre test 37.1 and post-test 61.3. it means that it can be concluded that “there is a significant effect of problem solving learning model for the blind students ability to solve the question in the form of story at fifth grade at SDLB-A YPAB Tegalsari Surabaya” (Zh=2,27 > Zt=1,96, α=5%).
