This study aims to determine the working world after the mentally retarded child SMALB Sidoarjo Se-year period 2011 to 2013: (1) To analyze the working world after SMALB mentally retarded children (2) To describe what kind of world of work done mentally retarded children after SMALB (3) To determine the barriers faced by children with intellectual challenges in the world of work after SMALB.
This study used a quantitative descriptive research using a survey approach manually. The subjects were all students of post SMALB mentally retarded children. The subjects of the study focused on post SMALB mentally retarded children in the period 2011-2013, residing and working in Sidoarjo. Analysis using percentage.
Based on the results of this study concluded: (1) search results, there were 17 mentally retarded SMALB Sidoarjo Se-distritc and post mentally retarded children in the period 2011-2013 there were 8 SMALB. Graduated 29 mentally retarded children, who reside in a survey there were 26 mentally retarded children (2) of that number, mentally retarded children who get the job 7 mentally retarded children (27%) and who have not obtained a job 19 mentally retarded children (73%) Of the 7 children with intellectual challenges consist of employees of private 2 mentally retarded children (8%), part-time 1 Mentally Retarded Children (4%), free lance 1 Child mental retardation (4%), and 3 honorary staff Mentally Retarded Children (11%) (3) The obstacles faced by children with intellectual challenges in the work of which sometimes still need to be shown or be reminded of the work to be done and sometimes also often easily influenced to do the work of others. The work has not been completed already moved on doing another job that overlap the completion of the work.
As for the suggestions that need to be submitted to the agency or agencies related to pay more attention to the service with appropriate programs and accurately to develop and empower potential in mentally retarded children have optimally. In addition, the need for guidance and counseling on emotional stability and career development for post-SMALB mentally retarded children in order to obtain a decent job retention.
