Eksplorasi Etnomatematika Sekolah Dasar Pada Batik Karang Khas Tuban

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) Untuk mendeskripsikan unsur etnomatematika sekolah dasar pada motif batik Karang khas Tuban, 2) Mendeskripsikan dan mengetahui aktivitas matematika sekolah dasar saat proses  membatik di Gallery Batik Tulis Emy. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Sumber data diperoleh dari data primer melalui observasi dan data sekunder melalui wawancara dan dokumentasi yang berhubungan dengan batik Karang. Penelitian dilakukan di Gallery Batik Tulis Emy dan SDIT Al Uswah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat konsep matematika sekolah dasar yang ditemuka pada motif-motif batik Karang yang meliputi : konsep titik, konsep garis, konsep sudut, konsep bangun datar, simetri lipat, konsep geometri transformasi. Tak hanya di motif saja peneliti juga menemukan aktivitas matematika dalam proses pembuatannya seperti proses mengukur, menghitung, menggambar bangun datar, dll. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan juga wawancara, dapat disimpulkan bahwa etnomatematika sekolah dasar pada batik Karang khas Tuban ini juga efektif untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar, karena selain belajar peserta didik dapat mengenal dan melestarikan budaya sekitar.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to 1) Describe the ethnomatematics aspects of elementary school in the batik Karang patterns from Tuban, and 2) Describe and find out elementary school math activities throughout the process of making batik Karang at Gallery Batik Tulis Emy. This type of this research is descriptive qualitative with an etnographic approach. With data sources obtained from primary data through observation and secondary data through interviews and documentation that related to batik Karang. This research was carried out at Galler Batik Tulis Emy and SDIT Al Uswah Tuban. According to the result of this research show that there are math concept in elementary school that found in patterns of batik Karang which include : the concept of point, the concept of line, the concept of corners, the concept of flat shape, fold symmetry, and transformation geometry. Not only in the patterns but researches also found mathematics activities throughout the process of making batik Karang such as measuring, calculating, drawing flat shapes, etc. based on the result of this research and also interviews, it is possible to conclude that ethnomathematics of elementary school in batik Karang from Tuban is also effective to be used in the learning mathematics in elementary school, because beside learning student can get to know and preserve the surrounding culture.
