Moods and Thoughts Around The Clauses: Billie Eilish’s Dark Lyrics on Teenager Notes Who Committed Homicide
This article presents an analysis of Billie Eilish’s dark lyrics written on the girl’s notes who committed homicide, yet both lyrics and the girl’s original handwriting becomes controversial as a purpose to give a sign to other people. It applies Linguistics Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) program and grammatical function with a qualitative approach to determine the dark lyrics built on the notes and how the message behind the lyrics is revealed. The results show that in the notes: 1) the dark lyrics were used to reveal the girl is experienced angry and madness while the dominant of Unmarked Topical Theme is aims to attract the reader as the writer focus on Billie Eilish’s dark lyrics as the main point; 2) declarative mood functioned to shorten the gap between herself and Billie Eilish’s dark lyrics so tindicate the participant at the beginning of the clause is information bearer as well as she tried to tell the reader about the experienced occurred by the moment. Grammatically, the controversial side of the notes is mostly featured by several clauses containing dark elements shown negative experience as she subjected to sexual abuse. As a matter of fact, this study discovered a strong sign of homicide’s tendency in statement of inclination which reflected personal desire.
