MAKNA BEHEL BAGI MAHASISWA DI SURABAYA

Abstract

Behel merupakan salah satu simbol eksistensi yang marak di masyarakat, khususnya mahasiswa Surabaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna behel. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori tubuh Anthony Synnott. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi Alfred Schutz. Subjek penelitian diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sample, bertujuan untuk memfokuskan pada populasi yang sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Unesa, Unair, UK Petra, Ubaya, UPN Veteran Jawa Timur berusia 20-24 tahun. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa alat kesehatan (behel) tidak hanya digunakan untuk kesehatan gigi saja tetapi juga untuk estetika (fashion) supaya kelihatan lebih bagus lagi dari penampilan, aslinya hal ini dibuktikan dari lima belas informan, delapan diantaranya menganggap bahwa behel digunakan untuk alat trend fashion (lifestyle) dan mahasiswa tersebut berkeinginan menggunakannya. Hal ini dipengaruhi adanya interaksi yang terjadi antar mahasiswa, sehingga mereka mendapatkan suatu makna dari pengaruh mahasiswa lain.Kata Kunci: behel, mahasiswa, gaya hidup.

Abstract

Behel is one of the symbols existence in society, especially in Surabaya. This research knowing purpose the meaning of behel. The theory used in this research is the theory body of Anthony Synnott. This research uses a phenomenological approach of Alfred Schutz. Research subjects were taken by using purposive sampling techniques, purposed to focus on the population according to the research purpose and that is the subject of this research were students of Unesa, Airlangga University, UK Petra, Ubaya, UPN Veteran Jawa Timur 20-24 years old. Results from this research is that medical devices (brackets) are not only used for dental health, but also for aesthetic (fashion) that looks even better than its original appearance. The conclusion was used of the behel fifteen informants, eight of them assume the behel is used for equipment fashion trends (lifestyle) and the student wishes to use it. It is influenced by the interactions that occur between students, so they get a sense of the influence of other students.Keywords: behel, students, lifestyle.
